OUR COMMUNITY

NGARRINDJERI

Gateway to the Coorong

The Yunta Wulan partnership is located in the town of Raukkan, nestled in the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray River region.

In the Ngarrindjeri Nation, raukkan means ‘meeting place’ and for many thousands of years this is where the 18 Ngarrindjeri clans (known as laklinyerar) have gathered for the Grand Tendi – their equivalent of a modern-day parliament.

Considered ‘the centre’ of the Ngarrindjeri nation, Raukkan remains an important cultural site for the Ngarrindjeri community and we’re proud our nursery is situated in a place that holds an important connection to our past, present and future.
